"In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning" is a 1955 popular song composed by David Mann, with lyrics by Bob Hilliard. It was introduced as the title track of Frank Sinatra's 1955 album In the Wee Small Hours. Mann and Hilliard wrote it during a post-midnight session at Hilliard's New Jersey home. ■アルバム 至上の愛について　　　　　

　J Coltraneは1926年生まれ、Miles Davisと同年生まれである。（ちなみに私の父も大正元年生まれで同級であるが）要するに私の親父世代。
　人の３倍ぐらいで疾走し、1967年7月17日に肝臓癌で40歳の若さで亡くなった。本年で没後51年になる。
　至上の愛は1964年12月9日の録音、リリースは1965年である。以下Wikipediaから引用する。

 コルトレーンが神に捧げた、全4パート構成による組曲のアルバム。作曲に当たって、カバラの書物の影響を受けたという。異なるリズムを並走させるポリリズムはメロディーと和音、音階を軸とする西洋音楽ではなく、インドやアフリカといった地域の他にはないリズムから大きく影響を受けたと言われている。レギュラー・カルテットの渾身の演奏が高く評価された。本作でひとつの境地に達したコルトレーンは、その後より先鋭的でアバンギャルドなフリー・ジャズの領域に挑戦することとなる。　by Wikipedia 2018.07.29

■初体験

時は今から41年前　私は大学1年生に入ってジャズをやりたい思っていた矢先、赤城山のPEPEというレストランに森村恭一郎カルテットの演奏を聞きに行った。

この時に10年に一度レベルの音楽的ショックを受けた　以来「いつかこのバンドでやりたい」が私の一つの目標となった。
同じ大学の先輩で主席卒業という相澤さんの存在を知ったのもこの時である。
ジャズも勉強も頑張らねば、と10代の私は純粋に思いました。

■至上の愛
今回は12回目の参加となる。それなり「理解は進む」はずなのであるが、かえって遠ざかる不思議な曲
森村先生がいつも渾身の集客で当日41名の入りでした。
始まる前から呪いがかかったような異様な雰囲気。

最近は他Musicianの演奏は皆なぜか気に入らない。本家のみを聞いている。
明るいというか雰囲気が違いすぎる。

至上の愛を第四楽章まで全曲は大変にきつい。 
個人的に大尊敬している森村大先生と演奏する僥倖。 
音楽的に尊敬する仲間と共演できる喜び。 
林氏の素晴らしいドラミングでまた解釈が変わってくる。演奏はマッコイが酔っぱらっていましたが。 

しかし、もう少しピアノがうまくなりたい。 頭を冷やして反省。
師匠のレッスンに持って行き復習した。
ちょっとアドバイスをもらって反省。来年忘れないように。
次の本番は一年後のはず。
現在の心境は、一週間の試験が終わって、夏休みになって気抜け（苦笑）。 

About " A Love Supreme "

First experience
　Sometimes 41 years ago I went to a university first grader and I wanted to do jazz and I went to ask the play of Morimura Kyoichiro Quartet in a restaurant named PEPE at Akagiyama.

Ever since I received a level musical shock every ten years at this time "I want to do it in this band someday" became one of my goals.
It was also this time that I learned that Aizawa-san was a senior at the same university and graduated from the main level.

A pleasure to play with musically respected fellows.
Mr. Hayashi 's wonderful drumming also changes interpretation.
McCoy was drunk in the performance.
　However, I want to improve the piano a little more. I chill down my head and reflect on.
I brought it to the teacher 's lesson and reviewed.
I got a little advice and reflected. Do not forget next year.
The next production should be after one year.

ノルウェイ産の安物の家具

　藤稜さんのソロにゾクゾク鳥肌が立ちます。プロの表現力に脱帽します。
ドラムの忠さんも見事な反応です。後光がさして見えます。

Norway の森について
　この曲の解釈は諸説がありますが、「ノルウェイの森」ではなく、「ノルウェイ産の安い家具」のある安い宿。。。が正しいようです。

　この時の録音はRolland R-09。やはりダイナミックレンジが少ない。音声バランス（イコライザー）で苦労します。リバーブ強調しすぎで再々度やり直し。昨日からTASCAM DR-100 MKⅢ投入しているが、外付けマイク必要かどうか。

Fujioka 's solo is terrible. I hat off to professional expression power. Tadashi of drums is also a splendid reaction. I can see the backlight a lot.

About Norway's forest
Interpretation of this song has various opinions, but not a "Norwegian Wood" but a cheap accommodation with "cheap furniture from Norway". . . It seems to be correct.

The recording at this time is Rolland R - 09. After all, the dynamic range is small. I have difficulty with sound balance (equalizer). Reverb is emphasized too much and redone again. Since TASCAM DR - 100 MKIII has been introduced since yesterday, whether external microphones are needed or not.

10年目の 至上の愛 「A Love Supreme」

森村大先生に誘われて　2006年の7月17日 Coltrane Tribute Concertに初めて参加した。
ずっと一杯一杯でベース、ドラムスは変わり、本年はベースに好造氏を迎えての10年目のコンサート（2010年は開催できなかったので、10回目になる）
それにしても難しい曲だ。

なんちゃってラテンピアノからの脱出。Ceora ( Lee Morgan)

ある日のレッスンでの会話　（私は生徒）
私「先生、この手のラテンピアノの与えられたコードに対して音がどこからどのようなタイミングで出すのかうまくできません、すぐ迷子に......」

師匠「俺も専門じゃないからな、、、」といいつつも　師匠のデモで目から鱗が100枚落ちた
私「わかりかました、基本は7の音を基点と和音を組み立てるんですね」
師匠「そうそう　シンコペーションのタイミングも大切」。。。難しい

....というデモのあとの演奏です。ラテンピアノの初心者アレンジを忠実に演奏シてみました。 （曲のあちこちでやっていますが、例えば2:52過ぎとか）
まだ考えないとうまくコードが変換されて出てこないのですが、もう一息。
ベースは時々一拍目いらないかもしれません。

ボサノバ全般で変化をつけるのに重宝します。

リーダーの森村先生(ts) の口癖　 ”我々は毎年7月17日は Coltraneの追悼コンサートをやらなければならない”という言葉で最初に始まったのは 2006年７月17日でした。
今回は8回目の演奏になります（一回休）。drummerは４人目になりますが、Sax,  Piano、Bassは固定したメンバーでの演奏です。森村先生の危機感迫る、緊張感溢れる演奏は35年前と全く変わらない。

ピアノは相変わらず酔っぱらったマッコイタイナーのようですが、最初のイントロのところで私は既に指がつっておりました。イントロが予想外に長かった。それにしても難しい曲です。

桜はもう散ってしまったけれど 「さくらさくら」づくし

まずは曲の由来を調べてみる
日本古謡と表記される場合が多いが、実際は幕末、江戸で子供用の箏の手ほどき曲として作られたもの(作者不明)。もともと「咲いた桜」という歌詞がついていた。その優美なメロディから明治以降、歌として一般に広まり、現在の歌詞が付けられたものである。13小節目以降の違いで3通りのメロディがある。1888年（明治21）に発行された東京音楽学校の「箏曲集」に記載がある。日本の代表的な歌として国際的な場面で歌われることも多い。後世様々な編曲がなされているが、宮城道雄の『さくら変奏曲』が特に有名。　　　　　　(Wikipediaより引用）
幕末に作られた作者不明の箏の手ほどき曲で、明示時代以後に歌詞が付けられたものだそうです。

料理法
　さて、私の頭にある「さくらさくら」を題材として編曲リハモしてみる。ベースは単純な下降ライン。起承転結をつけにくいなあ。原曲には申し訳ないけど、アドリブのしやすいハコ（小節数）に直してみる。演奏後に気づいたことであるが、私の頭の中では「かすみか雲か　匂いぞ出ずる」は何故かカットされていた。後半は印象的な「Bm　C♯  Bm   C♯」のラインで色彩感を強調する。最後はMcCoy Tyner風のEm sus4 。
　いつも気をつけているのは原曲のテーマを美しく演奏して、なおかつJazzの語法で嚥下消化すること。前週のピアノのレッスンにF師匠にアレンジ（コード、リズムのアイデア）のチェックを持ち込む。師匠は「またか」と苦笑しながら素晴らしいデモをしていただいた。

　さてこの演奏はジャムセッションに譜面を持ち込んで 練習なしの一発Takeです。私の演奏前の指示は「途中で原曲を離れてごりごりに花吹雪にしちゃいましょう」メンバーが瞬間に判断して音楽を作っていく　饗場君のalto saxはさすが。

さてこちらは以前にもご紹介した2011年の8月に高崎たまごホールでの被災したベーゼンドルファー復活コンサートでのピアノソロ　このソロのイメージから脱却するのは少々苦労しました。

what was made from an end of Edo Period and Edo as introduction music of 箏 for children in practice although written as Japanese songs and ballads of the ancient era in many cases (the author -- unknown). The words "the cherry tree which bloomed" stuck from the first. Generally it spreads as a song from the graceful melody after Meiji, and the present words are attached. There are three kinds of melodies by the difference after 13 vibrant-tune eye. "The collection of koto music" of the Tokyo music academy published in 1888 (Meiji 21) has a statement. It is sung in a scene international as a typical song of Japan in many cases. future generations -- although various arrangements are made, especially the Michio Miyagi's "Sakura variation" is famous. (It quotes from Wikipedia) 
the author made at the end of Edo Period -- it is said that words were attached after the clear statement age with the unknown introduction music of Koto

Words are checked. 
The number of vibrant tunes is difficult for this....... 

Recipe 
Now, arrangement is carried out on the topic of "Sakura Sakura" in my head. A base is a simple downward line. It is hard to give introduction development turn and conclusion. Although I am sorry to the original melody, it changes to the number of vibrant tunes which adlib tends to carry out. 
Although it was having noticed after the performance, in my head, "haze, cloud, or   smell " was cut in why. A feeling of color is emphasized with the line of impressive "Bm C♯  BmC♯" the second half. The last is Em sus4 of the McCoy Tyner style. Always taking care should perform the theme of the original melody beautifully, and, moreover, it should carry out swallowing digestion by the usage of Jazz. The check of an arrangement (a code, the idea of a rhythm) in F teacher is carried into the lesson of the piano of the week before. The teacher had the wonderful demonstration carried out, smiling wryly saying "It is again." Now, this performance carries a musical score into a jam.   It is one-shot Take without practice. the directions before my performance -- "-- on the way --" member who needs to come out, needs to leave the original melody and needs to make it  at a shower of falling cherry blossom petals judges at a moment, and makes music   Mr. Aiba's alto sax -- truly .

Horace Silver born in 1928 is a typical artist of funky jazz.
A typical musical piece is "The Preacher" "Nica's Dream" "Opus de Funk" "Sister Sadie" "Song for My Father" etc.
Here, I take up a little new ballade of Horace Silver.
Although it is the new composition of ten vibrant tunes, it is very beautiful music.
This performance is one in the jazz concert held with a recreation institution which is on the Maebashi-shi, Gumma Kashiwagura town on October 5, 2013, and which is called Camp Wonder.
The members who are performing this music are the friends with whom は私 is co-starring over ten years or more in the store of jazz called the pierrot of Takasaki for years.
Mr. Koike's sax is very wonderful.

1928年生まれのHorace Silverはファンキージャズの代表的なアーチストである。代表的な楽曲は、"The Preacher"　"Nica's Dream"　"Opus de Funk"　"Sister Sadie"　"Song for My Father" など。ここではHorace Silverのやや珍しいバラードを取り上げてみます。10小節の珍しい構成ですが、とても美しい曲です。

　この演奏は2013年10月5日に群馬県前橋市柏倉町にある、Camp Wonderという保養施設で行われたジャズコンサートのなかの一曲です。メンバーは私が長年10年以上に渡って高崎のピエロというジャズの店で共演している超ベテランの仲間達です。

小池俊明(ts) 甲賀英明(p)、天田隆(b)、富永研理(d)　小池氏のサックスがとても素晴らしい。

至上の愛2012 Part 2 " Resolution " 森村恭一郎カルテット

A Love Supreme is a studio album recorded by John Coltrane's quartet in December 1964 and released by Impulse! Records (catalogue number AS-77) in February 1965. It is generally considered to be among Coltrane's greatest works, as it melded the hard bop sensibilities of his early career with the free jazz style he adopted later.
　The album is a four-part suite, broken up into tracks: "Acknowledgement" (which contains the mantra that gave the suite its name), "Resolution", "Pursuance", and "Psalm." It is intended to be a spiritual album, broadly representative of a personal struggle for purity, and expresses the artist's deep gratitude as he admits to his talent and instrument as being owned not by him but by a spiritual higher power.

至上の愛 全曲演奏 (2012) 高崎ケイノート 森村恭一郎カルテット

 至上の愛 全曲演奏も6回目の参加　今回が最後と言いつつ今年も参加。

タイムマシンで遡ると...1977年の秋、ワタクシが大学に入ってジャズをやりたいけど何やっていいのか全然わからん時代。赤城山の店で森村恭一郎カルテットのライブがありました。

メンバーは 
　森村恭一郎ts ss、牧野元昭g、森村哲也ds、渡辺好造b 

　私の人生の転落を決定づけたライブでした。いつかこのバンドでやりたい！と学生時代はいつも意識していました。 
森村兄弟は1975年に伝説の橘レコード「相澤徹カルテット」をレコーディング直後の全盛時代。（写真参照　kozoさんがいる！） 

　ちなみに相澤さんは私の大学の大先輩でウチの大学の1975年主席卒業　ピアノも本業もずっと目標にして来ました。（第二内科の教授選に落ちたのは正直残念..） ピアノが壊れんばかりの極めてパワフルなピアノでした。 
　このレコードのプロデューサーの橘氏（赤谷湖ドライブインのオーナーであった）は数奇な運命を辿りました。。 
　 
いわゆる人格形成期とでもいうのかなあ。 

　1992年1月25日　高崎ピエロの入り口のドアを開けると、そこはサンバのリズムで聴衆が踊り狂っていた。ワタクシは圧倒されて、一緒に踊ってしまった（笑）。 

　その日の演奏は森村恭一郎Quartet　（森村恭一郎ts、ss、森村哲也ds、天田隆b、ピアノは確かカセ○さん）、そのまま、私は森村カルテットのピアノの座を奪い取り（大袈裟だけど）以後1999年1月23日まで記録上70回のライブに参加した。 

　とにかく鍛えられました。realbookを順番にやるバンドはそうそうざらにはない。このバンドの共演者は相当みんなボロボロに言われる。
